Developing Digital Design Systems and Interfaces for Architectural Design Education

The aim of this research is to provide prototypes of digital technologies and systems for creative design processes in design as one of strategies supporting students' creative thinking. Based on our previous research emphasizing HCI (Human-Computer Interaction) and UX (User Experience), we combined the theories of design cognition and computing with the application of digital media in design education. This research establishes a systematic method for a detailed analysis of digital systems and interfaces from a cognitive perspective. It specifies digital design system stimulating students' creative ideas, leading to guidelines for commercial digital design systems. The development enables to form a design education platform for design students to leap out of potential design thinking.
